Best time to visit serengeti

When is the best time of year to go to the Serengeti?
Whenever you choose to visit, Serengeti National Park provides an incredible and unique experience. However, mid-December to February or June to September are the finest times to explore Serengeti National Park. Ideally, you should plan your safari to coincide with these dates.

The Great Migration.
For instance, winter is the best time to see the prancing wildebeest in the Southern Serengeti, while summer and fall are the best times to visit the park's western corridor and the Northern Serengeti. Reputable tour companies will be able to predict the whereabouts of the animals with some degree of accuracy, and they will probably modify their Serengeti safari itineraries in response to the movements of the herd.

During the dry season, which runs from June to September, game drives offer better views of the wildlife since it congregates around rivers and waterholes, allowing for a thinner layer of bush. The weather in the Serengeti is usually predictable. The Serengeti has rather constant temperatures, sunny days, and lots of sunshine.

The usual range for daytime highs is the upper 70s to upper 80s. Furthermore, because fewer mosquitoes are present during the dry season, there is a lower risk of catching malaria. Because of its greater height, Ngorongoro Conservation Area may seem a little colder to you if you're going to come. The rainy season, which lasts from April to May and brings severe rains, is when many lodges close for the slower season.

What kind of experiences can I have in the Serengeti?
Of course, seeing wildlife in the Serengeti is the big draw. You may probably expect to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhino) as well as a variety of plains game like giraffe, Grant's gazelle, impala, kongoni, topi, and eland because Serengeti National Park has the largest concentration of large mammals on the planet.

Furthermore, after going extinct in 1991, the stunning African wild dog was brought back to the Serengeti in 2012. Additionally, you may be able to see over 500 different types of birds, such as flamingos and ostriches.

Though this might sound spectacular, nothing compares to The Great Migration more than a million wildebeest, zebra, and other hoofed animals traveling from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The migratory herds go across the Western Corridor of the Serengeti in April and May. The herds must cross the Grumeti River and Mara River, home to some 3,000 crocodiles and Hippopotamus in order to reach the Maasai Mara for the search of green pastures. Fifty wildebeests perish for everyone that the crocodiles catch.

The migrating herds begin their southward migration back to the Serengeti as the dry season finishes in late October. Every year, during their migration, some 30,000 plains zebras and 250,000 wildebeest dies from sickness, tiredness, eaten by Crocodiles and Big Cats, thirst, or drowning. It's a bittersweet, breath-taking thing to witness, but it's also survival of the fittest during these dramatic river crossings and a part of the circle of life.

How long does it take me to Explore Serengeti?
With 14,743km square of pristine savanna, the Serengeti is a vast national park spanning 5,700 square miles in northern Tanzania. The park's name alone suggests its vastness: the word "Serengeti" is a Maasai word “Siringet" that roughly translates to "the endless plains.
Having stated that, four days is the minimum recommended duration to adequately explore the Serengeti and its fauna. You'll need this time to drive about in your safari vehicle with your guide, searching for the Big Five and other animals, because it's so extensive. You will also get ample time to witness a range of weather patterns across four days. It may take even longer to get around the park if you visit during the busiest time of year, which coincides with the wildebeest migration.

To maximize the chance of a successfully experience and the chance to witness the animals of Serengeti we suggest to have at least Three to Four nights according to the time of the year.
